सूर्य सा मत छोड़ जाना

मैं तुम्हारी बाट जोहूँ

तुम दिशा मत मोड़ जाना

तुम अगर ना साथ दोगे

पूर्ण कैसे छंद होंगे

भावना के ज्वार कैसे

पंक्तिओ में बंद होंगे

वर्णमाला में दुखों की

और कुछ मत जोड़ जाना

देह से हूँ दूर लेकिन

हूँ ह्रदय के पास भी मैं

नयन में सावन संजोये

गीत भी मधुमास भी मैं

तार में झंकार भर कर

बीन-सा मत तोड़ जाना

पी गई सारा अंधेरा

दीप-सी जलती रही मैं

इस भरे पाषांण युग में

मोम सी गलती रही मैं

प्रातः को संध्या बना कर

सूर्य सा मत छोड़ जाना

English Translation

I will wait for you,
you shouldn't change direction

If you won't be there,
who will complete my words,
how will floods of emotion,
be captured in lines of poem?

In alphabet of sorrows,
please don't add anything more

I am distant, yet
I am closer to your heart
with hopes in my eyes,
I am poem and [season of] poetry too

By plucking the strings,
don't break my clarinet

I absorbed all the darkness
and lit myself like a lamp
In this crowded hard world
I melted like wax

In the evening, after the morning
don't abandon me like sun
